ABSTRACT Chalcididae is a family of parasitoids with wide distribution and great richness, almost 1,500 described species. Its diversity might be greater than that known today, mainly due to the few existing studies its taxonomic complexity. Studies in semiarid regions are scarce necessary contribute biogeographic knowledge neotropical fauna. Therefore, objective this work was record species occur municipality Barra do Choça, Semiarid region state Bahia, Brazil. In Brazil, Brazilian spotted fever was once considered the only tick-borne rickettsial disease. We report eschar-associated rickettsial disease that occurred after a tick bite. The etiologic agent is most related to Rickettsia parkeri, R. africae, and R. sibirica and probably widely distributed from Sao Paulo to Bahia in the Atlantic Forest.
